I'll give you my experience, first of all you need the necessary programs, second. You need an account of the cheat you want to free and the corresponding exe but if it has an obfuscator and some protection It will be even more difficult but there are auth emulators like keyauth and auth.gg

theoretically yes, but many bad cheats still use keyauth 1.3 , 1.2 and other old shit just bc they have been free and are popular enough for them to use it and we all know old keyauths can be bypassed by just injecting a simple emulation-dll
