If you play hvh on community PLEASE use a vpn.
If you are even semi disliked in the community then any skid with half a brain can get your ip.
I have 2 popular hvh server databases without paying any money at all.
All a skid has to do is pay someone for the db on a server then they have your ip. If you think the server your playing is safe or you won't get logged then you are delusional. I'm not sure about other regions but for na community, lucky, d0c, NoHyper, and pretty much every other server has a database for sale somewhere.
So, use a vpn.

Yeah, some servers also only exist to sell logs. Heretic has been gone for a while now but recently a fake heretic was made which I assume is to bait people into joining and getting logged. I can get some ss when im home.

Alr well heretic was one of the biggest hvh servers before it shut down and zprism was an admin. zPrism sells a mod applcation which has almost every severs database and he sells the mod. (Its called more than mod but I forgot the name). I forgot about this thread btw so I'll actually not forgot and show ss today.

I highly doubt that people associated with hvh servers actually sell their databases. Most likely a myth since you've been unable to post any type of proof. Easy get around for being "hated" in the community is to change your steam username or use alt's, there's no need for a vpn. It's very unlikely that you'll be ddossed even if you were hated in the community.

The reason I'm saying that you don't need a vpn when playing is that it is very unlikely to happen to you, unless you fake media or you're a server owner. And every known hvher will use alt accounts, so they don't get targetted. You can see it from every "well known" hvhers videos. And there's some known hvhers here for sure, or they've visited this site at least 100%.

Literally every known hvher Ik has an ego so they play on main alias or if they are known they are gonna get their voice recognized, pretty simple tbh.
